Seeking Responses to Events of September 11

September 21, 2001—The Oberlin College Archives is interested in documenting the Oberlin community's response to the horrifying and unimaginable terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., that took place on the 11th of September.

We are interested in acquiring any personal reflections of members of the community and copies of individual student or group projects relating to the national tragedy that may well be produced in courses taught during academic year 2001-2002. So far, staff have succeeded in acquiring and collecting some historical material for placement in the College Archives. Reference is made here primarily to campus-wide e-mails, and to pieces appearing on Oberlin Online and in the Oberlin Review.

For those students who may be considering paper projects that compare the Oberlin response to the present national emergency with former ones, I might suggest that you consult the holdings of the College Archives. Archives' staff stand ready to assist you in whatever way it can.
