Oberlin Junior Women's Club
Scope and Content

The records of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club document the organization’s involvement in local community projects, as well as ties to state and national organizations. The collection consists of club handbooks, 1961-64; constitution and rules, 1954; programs for events, 1961-1963; newspaper clippings, 1960-63; magazines from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, 1961-62, and the Directory of the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs, 1960-62. The records also include miscellaneous papers of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club and the Ohio FWC and the General Federation.

Series Descriptions

Series I. Constitution, 1954 (1 folder)

Consists of a copy of the constitution of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club. Although the organization name appears in the document as the Oberlin Junior League, after research it was determined that this constitution was in fact from the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club.

Series II. Directories, 1960-62 (1 folder)

Contains the Directory of the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs, 1960-62. The pages pertaining to District V (including the Oberlin clubs) have been cut out of the directory.

Series III. Handbooks, 1961-64 (1 folder)

Consists of two Oberlin Junior Women’s Club handbooks, 1961-62 and 1963-64.

Series IV. Miscellaneous, 1961, n.d. (2 folders)

This series consists of two flyers related to the activities of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club. Also included are miscellaneous documents from other organizations, such as a program from an Ohio FWC institute (1961) and a pamphlet from the General Federation.

Series V. Newspaper Clippings, 1960-63 (1 folder)

Contains Oberlin News Tribune clippings with photographs of various activities of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club between 1960-63.

Series VI. Programs, 1961, 1963 (1 folder)

Consists of programs from the Annual Mother and Daughter Banquet for 1961 and 1963.

Series VII. Publications, 1961-62 (2 folders)

Includes one issue of The Buckeye, Winter 1961 (Ohio FWC) and three issues of Club Woman, 1961-62 (General Federation)

Provenance

The records of the Oberlin Junior Women’s Club were received from Peg Van Ausdale on August 1, 1977.
