Albert Howe Lybyer (1879-1949) was a scholar of the history of the Middle East and the Balkans and served as an advisor on American policies in the Middle East.
Lybyer taught medieval and modern European history at Oberlin college from 1909 to 1913. From March to September 1919, he served as a technical advisor to the King-Crane Commission (also known as the Interallied Commission on Mandates in Turkey, American Section), led by Oberlin President Henry Churchill King and Chicago industrialist Charles R. Crane.
Lybyer also held teaching positions at Robart College (Istanbul, Turkey), 1900-06; Harvard University, 1907-09; and the University of Illinois, 1913-44.
