Gold Medal Piano-Fortes, 1863, by William B. Bradbury has a piece entitled “Oberlin, L.M.” on page 11.

Cherry, James E., "Ohio's Underground Railroad," 1958 Oversize Box 1

An operetta for the fifth and sixth grades submitted to the Faculty of Oberlin College as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Music Education. [acc. 2001/94]

Hymnal, c.1844

The title page is missing, but this appears to be a copy of T. H. Smead's A new collection of the most approved social hymns: now in common use; designed for all social religious meetings (Cleveland: T. H. Smead, 1844)

The beginning of the hymnal contains "recommendations" and reviews, including a piece written by Asa Mahan, President of Oberlin College, 1835-1850.

"Songs in honor of the Repeal of a Portion of the Black Laws of Ohio. Oberlin, February 21st, 1849." (1 page; words for two songs.) [A bill to repeal the Black Laws passed in the Ohio Senate and House, January 30, 1849. Dr. Norton S. Townsend, a trustee of Oberlin College, was an instrumental figure in efforts leading to repeal.] Acc. 1983/7.

This folder contains several manuscript scores: “Songs from Cyprus I”, “God Bless the Little Things”, “We Would Be Building”, “Jesse James”, “Snow Toward Evening”, “Homesick Blues”, and “Vendor’s Song”. Most of the pieces are written for piano and voice. [Acc. 1988/064]
