A gift to Mrs. A. A. Blakeslee from Mary M. Caughey (1854-55),
Eveline J. Gray (c. 1858), Nellie A. Gordon (possibly
Nancy A. Gordon, lit. 1859), Louisa J.
Savage (c. 1854), Elizabeth G. Vanderhoof (1854-55), and Deborah
L. Wilcox. Inscriptions are dated 1854-60.
Guest Book, 1929-1958
Guest book, with signed entries from 1929 to 1958,
notes several visitors from Oberlin, Ohio.
This guest register
was found with the cherry secretary which
belonged to Adelia A. Field Jonston. (Acc. 1993/115)
Leonard, Elizabeth M., 1829-33
Memory book of Elizabeth Leonard, inscribed with verses by
her friends, kept while a student in New Haven, Connecticut.
In 1836,
Miss Leonard,
sister of
Elizur M. Leonard, became the third wife of Oberlin Professor
John Morgan. She died
in February 1873.
Peck, Anna M., 1874-99
Autograph book kept by Anna M. Peck, sister of John Fisher
Peck (A.B. Oberlin 1875), who taught Greek and Latin
in the Oberlin
Academy
from 1880. Penciled
notes in flyleaf were made by Connie Lyon Zetterberg,
granddaughter of John Fisher Peck. Includes autograph
notes from Charles
Grandison Finney
and Rebecca
Allan
Rayl Finney.

Oberlinians
Smith, Agnes Ferguson, Autograph Album,
Autograph album sent by Smith (Lit. 1859) to the Cuyahoga County
Jail and signed by many of the men involved in the Oberlin Wellington
Rescue, 1859. Also
contains inscriptions from friends at Oberlin College and in Andover, Massachusetts,
1859-63. Includes a modest number of illustrations of Oberlin College buildings
and photographs of Nellie A. Root (Cornelia Anna Root; Lit. 1858) and Professor

Dieterich, Frederich William and Flora Alice Hyde, 1927-1928
A typescript copy (183 pages) of The Incredible Journey, excerpts
from a journal written by Frederich William Dieterich
and Flora Alice Hyde Dieterich, and accompanying
letters that describe their missionary work in China and their escape from
the devastation and bloodshed during the “Nanking Incident” in 1927,
and their eventual return trip to the United States. Read and transcribed in
this work by Dale J. Williams and LaJeune Dieterich Williams. Designed by Jann
Williams. Included is a letter of explanation from Dale and LaJeune Williams,
January 2004.

in the 1840's at Raisin Institute, Raisin,

Transcript of a diary kept by Fannie Marie White who moved
to Oberlin in 1858 with her husband, James, from South
Reading, Massachusetts. the diary includes
mention of the death of President Lincoln and Finney's
preaching. Oberlin references begin on page 103. Acc.

Scrapbook compiled by Mary Louis Ainsworth (A.B. 1926) containing
newspaper clippings and other material relating to playwright
Thornton Wilder (enr. 1915-17; hon.
Litt.D. 1952) and productions of his plays.
Barden, Harriet Clark, "Oberlin Scrapbook," 1910-51
Scrapbook compiled by Harriet Clark Barden (enr. 1909-24),
containing photographs and clippings about Oberlin College and
noted Oberlin
personalities. The scrapbook
appears to have been compiled following Barden's studies at Oberlin, but
also contains a modest amount of material from her student days.
Most of the contents
of the scrapbook were taken from college publications and local newspapers.

John Barrows, 1900. (Most of the documents are from the Oberlin Alumni

D. Photograph Albums
Box 5
Krikorian, Abraham, 2003–4, 2005 (final version)
A typescript copy of “The [Laurence and Frances] MacDaniels ‘American Committee for Relief in the Near East’ Photo Album: A Commentary and Guide,” written by Abraham D. Krikorian (Professor Emeritus, State University of New York at Stony Brook) and Eugene L. Taylor. Consists of 209 pages of background pertaining to the need for a “relief” effort in the first instance, detailed description, and commentary relating to the above mentioned photo album and the work of the American Committee for Relief in the Near East, 1919-20. Included is a separate typescript document that provides detailed description of and scholarly commentary on the photographs in the album (56 pages). A 3.5” computer disk (included) contains the commentary and descriptions of the individual photographs, 3 October 2004 (created in MSWord – PC version).
The final edited version of the introductory statement, guide & key, and photos were created in October 2005.
Also included are three (3) DVD disks containing digital images (scanned at 600 dpi, TIFF) of the photographs in the album. The disks contain the original and an enhanced image for each photograph. Photoshop was used to enhance the images. Access by permission of the College Archivist. The final version consists of 4 CD-ROMs. Includes the first draft (2004/083) and final version (2005/079). Researchers should consult the final version.
