Celebrating Black History Month

One of almost fifteen hundred Oberlin men and women to serve in World War I, David W. Anthony (d. 1983) spent two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army in France, where this photograph was taken in 1918. Anthony, a member of the class of 1916, later earned an M.D. from Howard University Medical School. For more information on Oberlin College’s role in World War I, please see the digital collection Oberlin College and Military Service in World War I.
