Sylvia H. Williams (d. 1996)
received her B.A. from Oberlin College in 1957. She was
a member of the Oberlin College Board of Trustees (1990-96).
Williams was the Director of the National Museum of African
Art at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
(1983-96). She was the first woman to direct a Smithsonian
Museum.
