From Africa: Selected Works from the AMAM's Collection
John N. Stern Gallery
September 4 – December 23, 2007
This exhibition includes traditional African art and works by African-American artists—some of whom have adapted the styles and motifs of African art to their own working methods while others have drawn inspiration from African culture—in a wide range of media from the Allen’s permanent collection. The African works, primarily from West and Central Africa, date from the 15th to the mid-20th century.
