Join us this June for the third annual Oberlin Chalk Walk.
Held on the sidewalks of downtown Oberlin and sponsored by the AMAM in conjunction with Main Street Oberlin, Inc., the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts, and the Oberlin Public Library, this day-long public event showcases professional "sidewalk painters" and gives artists of all ages the chance to create their own masterpiece. All materials are provided to participants free of charge. Live bands will provide the atmosphere as you provide the art! A public workshop will be held the weekend prior to the event.
The second Oberlin Chalk Walk was held on Saturday, June 23, 2007, and featured five 'master' artists - Robin Van Lear, Augusto Bordelois, Wendy Mahon, Hector Castellano Mara, and Dan Cherney. Over the course of the day, they created intricate and in-depth pavement drawings, giving visitors a chance to watch professionals at work.
Additionally, more than 400 people made their own chalk art, and many more were on-hand to view the works, listen to live bands, and enjoy a beautiful summer day.
