The Allen Memorial Art Museum (AMAM) was pleased to present a selection of its European and American masterworks
in the galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (from March 16-August 29, 2010), and the galleries of The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. (from September 11, 2010 - January 16, 2011). These special exhibitions took place during the museum's 2010-2011 renovation project. The AMAM works were integrated into the galleries of each institution, giving visitors the rare opportunity to see them with those by the same artists or from similar contexts as these world-renowned collections.
This page contains podcasts about some of the AMAM works in the "Side by Side" exhibition. These audio files were created during the 2008-2009 academic year at Oberlin College, and represent some of the many different voices through
which the collection can speak.
The study of original works of art is an indispensable part of a liberal arts education. The AMAM, a teaching institution, is committed to developing interdisciplinary programs that support the Oberlin College curriculum across both its Arts and Sciences and Conservatory of Music divisions, and the podcast series reflects this.
Here, professors and students alike discuss collection works – often through the lens of their individual disciplines. We invite you to download the files to enjoy either at home or in the galleries.
