Frequently asked questions

When will I hear about the Reunion?
You should have already started hearing about the reunion from your Class Presidents in their recent letters to you.  Please send in the reunion information forms and class directory cards to the Alumni Office.  In mid-March you will receive

When can I register for housing and events?
In mid-March you will receive reunion materials.  Fill out the registration form and return it with payment postmarked by May 1, 2010.  The prompt submission of your registration materials (by mail or fax) will ensure that you receive housing in the dormitories and tickets to meals and theater events.  Full payment is necessary to guarantee your reservation.   The Alumni Office will mail you an acknowledgment of your reservation. Your assignments and tickets may be picked up at the Commencement/Reunion Center in Science Center Room A155 or the Oberlin Inn.

Can I reserve a room in the Oberlin Inn?
All of the rooms in the Oberlin Inn have been reserved by the Alumni Office for alumni celebrating their 60th reunion and for dignitaries. Alumni from the Classes of 1949, 1950, and 1951will be sent registration materials in mid-March that includes reservation information for rooms in the Oberlin Inn.

When should I plan to arrive on campus?
The Commencement/Reunion Center will open at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 28.  Activities begin that afternoon and continue through Commencement on Monday, May 31.

Can children come to the Reunion?
Supervised recreational activities for children ages 4-12 will be available Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Children should be dropped off and picked up at the Commencement/Reunion Center.  Cost is $50.00 per day with lunch included.  Please sign up on the reservation form. You are also encouraged to have your children attend an evening of pizza and videos while you attend your formal class dinner on Sunday night. The pizza event is $7.00 per child.

What items should I bring?
Furnishings for each guest include sheets, pillow and case, blanket, towel, and soap.  These supplies are not replenished daily.  You may wish to bring a wash cloth, extra towels, clothes hangers, reading lamp, small fan or extra blanket.  Children in sleeping bags are permitted in a parent's room at no extra charge.  Dress for the weekend is casual.  The weather is unpredictable in May so you may want to bring shorts as well as pants and sweatshirts.

Will I be able to use the gym?

Philips Physical Education Center will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Activities and facilities available include aerobic equipment, basketball, racquetball, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track, volleyball, and weight training.  Basketballs, racquets and balls for racquetball, squash, table tennis and tennis, and volleyballs may be borrowed from the equipment room.  Those wishing to swim must provide suits.  Lockers and towels are available for a small daily fee.  Please note that non-marking shoes must be worn in Philips.  You may bowl in Hales Gymnasium or golf at the Oberlin Golf Club.
