Frequently
asked questions
When
will I hear about the Reunion?
You
should have already started hearing about the reunion from
your Class Presidents in their recent letters to you.
Please send in the reunion information forms and class directory
cards to the Alumni Office. In mid-March you will receive
reunion materials which will contain the registration form.
When can I register for housing and events?
In mid-March you will receive reunion materials.
Fill out the registration form and return it with payment
postmarked by May 1, 2008. The prompt submission of
your registration materials (by mail or fax) will ensure that
you receive housing in the dormitories and tickets to meals
and theater events. Full payment
is necessary to guarantee your reservation.
The Alumni Office will mail you an acknowledgment of your
reservation. Your assignments and tickets may be picked up
at the Commencement/Reunion Center in Science Center Room A155 or the Oberlin Inn.
Can I reserve a room in the Oberlin Inn?
All of the rooms in the Oberlin Inn have been reserved by the Alumni Office for alumni celebrating their 55th reunion and for dignitaries. Alumni from the Classes of 1952, 1953 and 1954 will be sent registration materials in mid-March that includes reservation information for rooms in the Oberlin Inn.
When should I plan to arrive on campus?
The Commencement/Reunion Center will open at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 23. Activities begin that afternoon and continue through Commencement on Monday, May 26.
Can children come to the Reunion?
Supervised recreational activities for children ages 4-12
will be available Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26 from
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Children should be dropped off
and picked up at the Commencement/Reunion Center. Cost
is $50.00 per day with lunch included. Please sign up
on the reservation form. You are also encouraged to have your children attend an evening of pizza and videos while you attend your formal class dinner on Sunday night. The pizza event is $6.00 per child.
What
items should I bring?
Furnishings for each guest include sheets, pillow and case,
blanket, towel, and soap. These
supplies are not replenished daily. You may wish
to bring a wash cloth, extra towels, clothes hangers, reading
lamp, small fan or extra blanket. Children in sleeping
bags are permitted in a parent's room at no extra charge.
Dress for the weekend is casual. The weather is unpredictable
in May so you may want to bring shorts as well as pants and
sweatshirts.
Will I be able to use the gym?
Philips Physical Education Center will be open on Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday. Activities and facilities available
include aerobic equipment, basketball, racquetball, squash,
swimming, table tennis, tennis, track, volleyball, and weight
training. Basketballs, racquets and balls for racquetball,
squash, table tennis and tennis, and volleyballs may be borrowed
from the equipment room. Those wishing to swim must
provide suits. Lockers and towels are available for
a small daily fee. Please note that non-marking shoes
must be worn in Philips. You may bowl in Hales Gymnasium
or golf at the Oberlin Golf Club.
