Executive Director of the Alumni Association

The Executive Director, chief administrative and budgetary officer of the Association, is appointed by the President of the College in consultation with the Executive Board and reports to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Affairs. An ex-officio member of all committees of the Association, the Director is responsible for:

    1. hiring personnel;
    2. managing the Alumni Office and its programs;
    3. encouraging faculty to participate in alumni activities;
    4. keeping the administration informed about the plans, concerns, and problems of the Association; and
    5. keeping the Executive Board informed about the recommendations or views of the administration.

In addition, the Director develops alumni to be resources for undergraduates by planning and organizing programs in which alumni can offer career advice, by organizing educational travel tours and seminars, by overseeing activities for alumni in geographical regions, by staffing and maintaining the Alumni Council structure, and by planning and implementing class/cluster reunions.  The Director also serves as staff liaison with the Nominations and Trustee Search Committees and with three affiliate groups.

Director of Alumni Outreach and Education

The Director of Alumni Outreach and Education is responsible for developing, implementing, and servicing all outreach and education programs that strengthen communication between the College and its alumni, and assists the Executive Director in planning and implementing Alumni Association activities. Providing limited support for special interest group reunions, conferences, and symposia, the Alumni in Service to Oberlin College on campus speaker program and off campus faculty lectures to alumni are some of the educational initiatives supported by the Director. Additionally, the Director serves as staff liaison with the Career Services and Admissions Advisory Committees, student life programs, the Multicultural Resource Center and its affiliate alumni groups.

Assistant Director of Alumni Events and Electronic Communications

The Assistant Director of Alumni Events and Electronic Communications assists the Executive Director in planning and implementing activities for alumni returning to campus for Commencement/Reunions, Alumni Council weekend, and Executive Board meetings. The Assistant Director also oversees the Alumni Association electronic communications with alumni. Additionally, this individual serves as staff liaison with the Awards and Communications Committees, the John W. Heisman Club, and with several assigned affiliate groups, as well as coordinating elections for alumni class officers.

Alumni Office Personnel

Other Alumni Office personnel, administrative assistants, handle administrative and clerical functions. They are hired by the Alumni Office staff in consultation with the College's Office of Human Resources.
