The Chairs are Back

The “ball” or “moon” chairs (also mistakenly called “womb” chairs) in Mudd Library have become iconic features of the campus since they were installed in the 1970s. They turn up in Fun Home, the graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel ’81, the novel The Orphan Sister by Gwendolyn Gross ’89, and, of course, previous issues of the Oberlin Alumni Magazine. The Oberlin chairs spent the summer in Michigan, where they were completely refurbished.
