Importing your PRESTO class list into Excel

Class list downloand instructions for Netscape users:

  1. Log into PRESTO as you normally would. Once you have entered entered your T number and PIN, click the Faculty Menu.

  2. Choose Summary Class List from the list of options. You will be asked to select a Term for the class list you'd like to see (the current semester will be the default), and then to select the CRN for the class list you'd like to see.

  3. The class list for that CRN will now appear. At the bottom of the list is a button called Tab Delimited Version. Click this button; this will bring up a text version of your class list.

  4. Click the File pulldown menu along the top of your screen and choose the Save As option. This will bring up a dialog box where you'll name the file you're about to save and choose where to save it. For both Mac and PC users, the easiest option is probably to save the file to your Desktop. There will already be a system-generated name for the file, which you can change now or leave alone until later (you'll have the chance to rename the file in a moment).

  5. When you've chosen where to save the file and its name, click the Save button.

  6. Now open Excel (or whichever spreadsheet application you use) and choose the Open option from your file menu. Locate the file you've just saved and open it. You will be presented with a few dialog boxes asking you about formatting; click the Next button twice and then the Finish button to bring up your file in a spreadsheet.

  7. Now, you can format your class list any way you'd like in spreadsheet. When you're finished, be sure to Save the document as an Excel file to preserve your formatting, and to name it accordingly if you haven't already.
