Installing Citrix on the Macintosh

Below are step-by-step instructions for installing the Citrix setup on the Macintosh desktop machine. If you already have Citrix and simply need to retrofit the setup for printing purposes, the retrofit documentation is located here. If you need to change the NetWare/Citrix password, the documentation is located here.

1. Installing Citrix on the desktop machine

Part I: Copying the Citrix Mac Client file to the desktop

There are two ways to copy the Citrix Mac Client file to the client desktop. We recommend using the Web Method, which is listed first below. If you have problems dowloading the file from the web, use the Softserv Method, also listed below.

Web Method:

  1. Using the web browser, go to http://www.oberlin.edu/cit/download/mac.html. This is the CIT's download page for Macintosh software.
  2. Locate the link called Citrix Client Software and click on it. Several dialog boxes will appear on the screen.
  3. When the dialog boxes disappear, you will see the Citrix Mac Client folder on the desktop.

Softserv Meothod:

  1. From the Apple menu, highlight Chooser. This will bring up the Chooser dialog box.
  2. In the top left window, click once to highlight the NetWare icon (you may have to scroll down in the window to see it)
  3. In the top right window, double-click OBERLIN (the earth icon), then Oberlin (the server icon), then the Staff icon, then the OCNS2 icon.
  4. At this point, you may get a Novell Client dialog box if you haven't logged on to the network yet today. Log on using the NetWare username and password; the NetWare username and password are printed on the lower right-hand side of the yellow Citrix info sheet. When you've entered the username and password, click Log In.
  5. In the top right window of the Chooser, you'll now see a list of servers. Double-click on SOFTSERV. This will put the OCNS2.SOFTSERV ice-cream cone icon on the desktop.
  6. Close the Chooser.
  7. Double-click on the Softserv icon on the desktop to open it.
  8. In Softserv, find the Citrix Mac Client folder and drag it to the desktop
  9. Close Softserv and drag the ice-cream cone icon to the trash
