Tutorials for specialized software and/or application of standard software

• NEURON - Software used to visualize and manipulate physiological processes at a cellular level. Very prominently used in Computational Neuroscience but not restricted to such a focus.
• ArcView 8.3 - Software used to analyze and display spatial information e.g. create maps that represent socioeconomic boundaries.
• Excel - Graphing and basic statistics are covered in this brief tutorial. The example is focused on biological systems but is applicable to other systems. Includes videos.

Useful but unsupported software.

There are always useful products that can be purchased or downloaded. Some of these are listed below.

  • Photoshop LX - cross platform. Cheaper but very useful version of Adobe's Photoshop.

  • Thumbs Plus - very easy to use. Cross platform

  • Macromedia CourseBuilder (Used with Dreamweaver to create quizzes - rather difficult to use but free).
