Prescription Summary

List of drugs requiring prior authorization.

The Oberlin College plan has a two-tier copayment structure to help you control your medical expenses. The first tier, called generic, is the most affordable way to obtain quality medications at your lowest copayment level. Generic drugs must meet the same federal standards as brand-name drugs. They are certified by the Food & Drug Administration to be as effective as their brand-name counterparts.
The second tier covers brand-name drugs that have no generic equivalent. You pay a slightly higher copayment for these medications.

The prescription drug coverage gives you access to your pharmacy drug needs at more than 50,000 pharmacies, including all major chains such as Drug Mart, CVS, etc. Just take your prescription and your CIGNA HealthCare ID card to a participating pharmacy and pay your copayment (or coinsurance) for covered prescriptions. For the first refill in 2003 make sure to give your pharmacist your new CIGNA ID card for payment. You will receive up to a 30-day supply. For certain medications, your physician may need to contact CIGNA HealthCare to request coverage for the prescription. Your doctor should make the request before writing the prescription.
Prior Authorization Drugs List

How many of you would like your prescriptions delivered directly to your door? You can make it happen with the CIGNA Tel-Drug prescription program. Order a 90-day supply of medication over the phone, by mail, or online. It's ideal for maintenance medications - a cost-effective, easy, convenient and quick service. With QuickSwitch, you can easily change from having a 30-day supply filled at your pharmacy to ordering and receiving a 90-day supply at home.

If you expect to be traveling or away from home when you need a refill, just call the toll-free number on your CIGNA HealthCare ID card. CIGNA will authorize an early refill so you can pick up extra medication before you leave. Or, CIGNA will authorize your pharmacist to fill your prescription with more than the usual 30-day supply. Best of all, there are no claim forms - getting prescriptions filled is simple and convenient.

If you must go out of Network
You can fill prescriptions at pharmacies that do not participate in the CIGNA HealthCare network, but your costs will be higher. You will pay for the prescription when it is filled, then file a claim for reimbursement with CIGNA.
