OBERLIN COLLEGE GEOLOGY
WINTER TERM PROJECTS

In Oberlin, January is known as Winter Term, and our students do either individual or group projects instead of taking regular courses. Each year, the Geology Department sponsors a group project for geomajors. The central focus of this project is an extended field trip to a classical geological field area. The trips we've run in the last decade are:

Generous donations from Oberlin geoalums have helped make all of these trips possible. In addition, the 1998 Winter Term trip was co-sponsored by the Oberlin Shansi Memorial Association and relied heavily on assistance from faculty members at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Click here to read an account of our trip to Indonesia. This account was published in the Oberlin Obsever and you can download the entire issue in PDF format.
