| Interests:
My research and teaching interests are in the social construction
and enactment of ethnic and racial identities, immigrant adaptation
and community formation, and inequalities both within and outside
of immigrant groups by race, gender, class and sexuality, with a
focus on Asian Americans. I am currently writing a book on second
generation Korean and Indian American professionals in Dallas, TX
that examines how these minorities create and perform multiple identities
in daily life in ways that promote both their boundaries from others
and their continued integration simultaneously. I have also recently
started research on a new project on the internal and external community
relations of Indian immigrant motel owners and doctors in the deep
South.
