Oberlin College
Administrative & Professional Staff Mentor Program

The A&PS Mentor program consisits of a group of volunteers who have agreed to act as mentors for incoming A&PS personnel. Any member of the A&PS is welcome to join this group! Mentors should be positive, enthusiastic people, willing to spend some time answering questions from new A&PS staff members wanting to know more about the College, getting around the campus or local area, and where/how to pursue their interests (such as baseball, camping, yoga, karate, quilting, biking, sailing, etc.).

Staff members who are willing to participate as mentors to new A&PS members should complete and submit the form at the bottom of this page.

If you are new to the A&PS, please feel free to consult the list of mentors.

The list includes contact information at work (phone), department, job title, location on campus, and interests and hobbies.

Mentor and new staff member will coordinate their own contact. Activities might include:

    • informational or Q&A phone conversations
    • chats over coffee (the science center coffee kiosk is a convenient and pleasant place to meet during the academic year, especially in the early morning)
    • tours of campus
    • sit-down visits
    • accompanying new person to campus events (Conservatory performances, Art Museum showings)

We expect mentors to spend no more than 1-3 hours a week for approximately one month after the new person cotacts them. (Any additional time would be mutually agreed upon between the mentor and new staff person.)
